Knives
Knives have been around us for ages. Men in prehistoric times usually use rocks and wood to cut and carve things. Eventually the rocks and wood were replaced by metal which is stronger and harder. And as time goes by, men learn how to use different kinds of metal like iron and bronze and even other metal alloys. They also learn how to mold these metals into different styles and shapes. These metals are now popularly called knives.
Knives can be used for different ways. They can be used as utensils, as tools, as weapons, and even as religious or traditional items. Some of us are most familiar with knives that are used as utensils since we always use them at home. Samples of these knives are the bread knife, butter knife, steak knife, and oyster knife. As their names suggest, they are used to cut bread, butter, steak, and oyster. Knives that are popularly used as tools are the hunting knife, the machete, the pocket knife, the survival knife and the scalpel. The hunting knife is obviously used for hunting, while the machete is used to cut vegetation and plants. The pocket knife and the survival knife are usually knives used for survival since they are sturdy and in the case of the pocket knife have additional tools attached to it while the scalpel is commonly used for operations or surgery. Knives that are used as weapons are the combat knife, the throwing knife and the bayonet. These are the weapons usually used in combat and in fighting or just as a means of self defense and protection.
